📚 Mrs. Wood’s Tutoring Handbook and Code of Conduct

Welcome to Mrs. Wood’s Tutoring! Our goal is to provide a positive, focused, and effective learning environment for all students. This Handbook outlines the expectations for students and parents/guardians to ensure a successful partnership.

Part I: Student Code of Conduct

This section applies to all students, currently serving grades 1st through 6th.

A. Academic Integrity and Behavior

Students are expected to uphold the highest standards of honesty and respect during all tutoring sessions. Prohibited behaviors that will not be tolerated include:

  • Cheating: Attempting to use unauthorized resources or methods to gain an unfair advantage.
  • Stealing: Taking property that does not belong to them.
  • Lying: Intentionally providing false information.

B. Disciplinary Action

Violation of the Student Code of Conduct will result in disciplinary action:

  1. First Warning: A verbal warning and discussion with the student, and communication with the parent/guardian.
  2. Second Warning: A final written warning and a discussion with the parent/guardian detailing the infraction.
  3. Dismissal: Any violation following the second warning will result in immediate dismissal from Mrs. Wood’s Tutoring services.

All dismissals are at the sole discretion of Mrs. Wood Education Services. Unused sessions will not be refunded if a student is dismissed due to disciplinary action.

Part II: Attendance and Timeliness Policy

Consistent attendance and punctuality are vital for the student’s success and the smooth operation of our schedule.

A. Session Timing

  • Session Duration: All standard tutoring sessions begin precisely at the hour and end precisely 10 minutes before the hour (e.g., 4:30 PM to 5:20 PM).
  • Door Opening: The doors for the first hour open at 4:30 PM and the doors for the second hour open at 5:30 PM.
  • Late Arrival Policy: Students must arrive no later than 5-10 minutes past the session start time. Arrivals later than this are strongly discouraged, as the student will not fully benefit from the time.
  • Session Completion: Once a session begins, it will end at the scheduled time (e.g., 5:20 PM or 6:20 PM), regardless of when the student arrived.

B. Parent/Guardian Pick-Up

Parents/legal guardians are required to pick up their child on time at the conclusion of the tutoring session.

Pick-Up ConsequenceDetails
Late Pick-Up FeeIf a parent/guardian is more than 5 minutes late and this lateness becomes a pattern (3 sessions), additional funds will be required for every minute the parent/guardian is late, starting from the scheduled end time.
Habitual LatenessIf a parent/guardian is habitually late to pick up the student, dismissal from tutoring services is an available consequence, at Mrs. Wood’s discretion.

Part III: Financial and Plan Policies

Clear financial agreements are necessary to maintain a reliable tutoring service.

A. Timely Payments

Parents/legal guardians are responsible for ensuring all payments are made on time.

  • If payments are not made on time, the student may be subject to dismissal from Mrs. Wood’s Tutoring services. All dismissals are at Mrs. Wood’s discretion.

B. Additional Sessions & Pricing

Students are permitted to purchase additional academic sessions based on their package:

  • Monthly Plan: $40 for an additional session.
  • Semester, School Year, and School Year/Summer Plans: $30 for an additional session.

Note: Students may receive a specific number of free sessions based on the package and plan purchased.

C. Session Rollover Policy

Unused sessions may roll over to a subsequent commitment period, provided the student remains enrolled:

  • Monthly Package: 1 of unused sessions will roll over to the next month signed up.
  • Semester Package: 2 of unused sessions will roll over to the next semester signed up.
  • School Year Package: 5 of unused sessions will last up until the beginning of the next school year, allowing for utilization during the summer.

Part IV: Specialized AR Reading Session

AR Reading Time (Thursdays)

On Thursdays during the second session of tutoring, Mrs. Wood Education Services will provide dedicated AR reading time.

  • Activities: Students will be read a book, practice note-taking over the content, and review those notes in preparation for taking AR tests at school.
  • Cost: $10 per session.
  • Exemption: These specialized AR sessions do not count against the student’s regularly purchased academic-only tutoring sessions.
